JASON & KRISTY...

(Photo by Ian Edwards Photography- Gladstone)

We have been together since 1995 (grade 8). We were married on the 7th of April 2007 & had our first child in September. It has been a very busy & fulfilling year for us!

Jason has been around horses his whole life. While growing up he & his family were very sucessful & versatile when it came to horses. "The Coveney's" were known to have some very handy sporting horses which they trained themselves. Jason & one in particular known as "Twinkie" went on to win the 1997 Junior Barrel Race at the Mt Isa Pro Rodeo. When he wasn't going fast he was showing, numerous ponies for countless Supremes & Championships in both the led & hack classes throughout the Central West & Central Highlands Show Circut for many years. He then gave the quiet ones away & tried his hand at Rodeo. He settled for the event known as the Bareback & has sucessfully competed in it for several years. In December 2006 he injured his knee & shoulder off a horse at Deniliquin whilst rodeoing in NSW/ VIC & he has given bareback riding away (for now anyway?).  Over the years his love for work on the land had him mustering & he is keen to take on reining, cutting & campdrafts. Who knows where Jason might turn up!

In 2009 Jason is...

QRA Affiliated Rodeo Judge

QRA Affiliated Rodeo Protection Clown

Vice President of the Barcaldine Pony Club

Barcaldine Stockman's Challenge Organiser

Kristy was taught to ride at age 4 however, her interest in horses didn't become solid until high school.  Any equine event catches her eye and as a Junior she was into Gymkhanas, Stockman's challenges & drafting. She rode in the hack ring for a couple of years but prefers the sport of Barrel Racing. In 2002 Kristy was crowned Rodeo Queen of Australia & travelled to the USA. The highlight of her trip was riding in the Grand Entry at the American Pro Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas. Jaydee was born on September 6th 2007 & Kristy was keen to step back on Stevie, they proved to be very consistant throughout 2006 & Kristy wants to get the most out of the creamy who she will one day, retire gracefully.  Kristy admires any horse who can gallop, stop & walk away on a loose rein!

In 2009 Kristy is...

Correspondance Officer for the Barcaldine Pony Club

On the Working Committee for the CWQPHC (see links page)
